The Orangemen were led by junior Lew Castle and were nicknamed the 'Buffalo Five' due to four starters being from Buffalo [1]. The team would win its first three games of the year by a convincing margin, before going on a four game road trip spanning seven days. The Orangemen would lose three of those four games, including a close one to St. John's 31-30. The team would return home to win their last four games of the season and finished at 8-3.
