| Syracuse Record Versus Ranked Teams |
AP Basketball Rankings began with the 1948-1949 Men's Basketball Season. The first weekly poll game out January 18, 1949, and the AP Ranked the Top 20. The AP expanded to a Top 25 with the 1990-1991 season. Syracuse has been ranked #4 five times. They were ranked #1 in the preseason of 1987-1988, and remained #1 for four games. In 1989-1990, they were not ranked #1 in the pre-season, but moved to #1 before their first game, and remained there until January 6th, 1990 when they lost to Villanova. In 2010 they beat Villanova and moved to #1 on March 1st, and remaineed then until after their loss to Louisville on March 6, 2010. The fourth time they moved to #1 was December 12th, 2011, and they remained there until after losing to Notre Dame on January 21st, 2012. In 2014, Syracuse moved to #1 on February 3rd, 2014.
