Comments:
New York University led 56-28 at the half, and outscored Syracuse 66-31 in the second half. The 63 point deficit is the worst loss in Syracuse history. The 122 points by the Violets was a record, at the time for any basketball game played at Madison Square Garden. Barry Kramer led all scorers with 27 points, as 8 NYU players scored in double digits. Jim Seaman led Syracuse with 14 points.
This was the first game of a doubleheader at Madison Square Garden. The Manhattan Jaspars would beat the Georgetown Hoyas 79-73 in the second game.
