Comments:

Syracuse jumped out to an early lead with Elijah Moore scoring the Orange's first eight points. The game would remain close for most the first half with the Orange eventually widening the lead to 34-27 at the half.

Syracuse held a comfortable lead for most the second half. The Orange led 67-62 with 43 seconds left when JJ Starling got fouled. He would miss the front end of his one-and-one free throw. Jyare Davis would grab the offensive rebound, and Eddie Lampkin would miss his free throw. BC star Donald Hand would score to make it 67-64 with 12 seconds remaining. Starling would again it get fouled, with 5 seconds remaining, and again missed his free throw. BC's Fred Payne would make a three point basket with just over a second remaining to send the game to overtime.

The first overtime was close throughout. Lampkin would steal the ball with 22 seconds remaining and the score tied. But Starling would miss his shot and the game went into another overtime tied 76-76.

Boston College scored the first seven points of the second overtime and led 83-76 with 1:53 remaining. Syracuse started to climb back into the game. BC's Hand, the ACC's best free throw shooter at 91%, missed both his free throws with 24 seconds remaining and the Orange down by one. Starling would get fouled with 11 seconds remaining. He made his first free throw to tie the game, but missed his second. BC had a chance to get the last shot but Kyle Cuffe stole the ball, and SU's Jaquan Carlos tried a half court desperation shot. He missed and the game went to a third overtime tied 85-85.

Syracuse scored first in the third overtime and ended up running away with the period outscoring the Eagles 10-1, with the Orange winning 95-86.

Starling and Hand led all scorers with 28 points each, and Lampkin had 18 rebounds. Both teams were poor at the free throw line. Syracuse was 4-12 during regulation, and 18-32 for the game, while BC was 9-18.
