Miami had some early foul trouble witih George and Poplar both picking up two fouls early. Meanwhile Syracuse struggled to scored except for J.J. Starling who kept the team in the game. Miami would lead at half 31-30.
The Hurricanes led 55-48 with 7:48 left in the game. The Orange would tie the game back up at 62-62 on a three pointer by Starling. Syracuse would eventually take the lead, but Miami tied it up 69-all when Kyshawn George made a three pointer with 1:17 left. Judah Mintz would miss his next shot, and Miami had a chance, but Bensely Joseph missed with 28 seconds left. Malik Brown secured the rebound, and Coach Autry called a time out with 18 seconds remaining. Mintz would get the ball, and with a few seconds left he would drive to the right of the lane. Miami's defense followed him, and Mintz would make a cross court pass to Quadir Copeland who woulld make a game winning three point shot as time expired.
Starling would lead all scorers with 22 points, and Mintz had 13 assists. Maliq Brown had a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
It was the Orange's first buzzer beater since John Gillon's three point shot beat Duke 78-75 at the Dome on February 22, 2017.
