JJ Starling is a guard for Syracuse basketball.

Starling was highly recruited out of high school and was a McDonald's All-American. He started his collegiate career at Notre Dame, and earned ACC Freshman Team honors. He would miss some playing time due to knee soreness. He scored a season high 23 points against Bowling Green in November. Starling would transfer to Syracuse after his freshman year.

Starling struggled with his shooting early his sophomore year, as well as with his role for the Orange. However, by mid season his three point shot improved, and he learned to fit into the Orange offensive scheme. He had a season high 26 points with four three-point shots in a win over North Carolina State.
