John Beck was a reserve player for Syracuse basketball for three seasons.

John Beck Syracuse Orangemen BasketballBeck joined the Navy upon graduating from high school, and served on the USS Runels in anti-submarine patrols. He saw duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific, and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa [1]

Beck was a reserve guard his sophomore year at Syracuse. He would move to the center position for his junior and senior seasons, and was a valuable backup on two veteran teams. His older brother Charles was a reserve guard at Syracuse prior to World War II.

Beck would work for General Motors from 1951 to 1987. He was adept at international activities and spent time for GM in Uruguay, Peru, Mexico And Brazil. He was eventually a vice president for General Motors, prior to his retirement.

Beck was named a Syracuse University Letterwinner of Distinction in 2006.
