Earl Rice was the manager of the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons and also a reserve player.
Clarence Houseknecht felt he had a good squad for the 1903-1904 season, and he challenged Rice to come up with a schedule that would be challenging to the team and thrilling for the fans. Rice did not disappoint with a twenty game schedule that included a stretch with ten games in fourteen days.
Rice would graduate from Syracuse in 1905 and would practive law in the area for a couple of years. He would move to Seattle, Washington and open a law partnership. [1]
