Clarence Houseknecht was one of the first leaders of the Syracuse basketball program. He played four years for the program, and was the captain his junior season 1904. He played the guard, forward and center positions. He was awarded a letter his senior season, 1905.
Houseknecht also played for the football team, earning a letter his senior season. He would captain the Syracuse tennis team, as a post graduate, in 1906 and 1907.
