Syracuse Basketball 1920-1929 |
Team Record | 130-58 0.691 |
Post Season | None |
Style | Syracuse played a lot of man to man defense. Positions weren't well defined as the same player easily switched from guard to forward to center. Star players still did most the shooting, though everyone shot their own free throws. Defense was very rugged and physical. The basketball team was loaded with football and baseball stars throughout the decade. |
Player of the Decade | Vic Hanson. Easily the best athlete at Syracuse in the first half of the century, having been inducted into the basketball and football Hall of Fames, and named a three time All-American. |
Best Individual Season | Vic Hanson 1925-26. The All-American led the Orangemen to a 19-1 record and the National Championship, scoring a then school record 282 points (which wouldn't be broken for two decades). |
Best Team | 1925-26. National Champion team with a 19-1 record, and a lot of talent. |
