Dan Fogarty was a speedy guard with a strong passing game. He seldom looked to take a shot, unless given the high percentage opportunity. Fogarty was part of the famous Syracuse 'Reindeer Five'. Fogarty was considered the top defender on the team, and the defensive scheme was developed with him as the focal point.
He was a high school teammate of Syracuse's Willie Walkov at Holyoke High School. Their 1923-24 Holyoke team went 21-1. Fogarty was president of the Syracuse student body his senior year.
Fogarty passed away in 1971.
