Bill Smith set a Syracuse single game scoring record with 47 points, breaking Dave Bing's record of 46. Tracy Tripucka scored 41 for Lafayette; he was the brother of Notre Dame's Kelly Tripucka, and son of former football star Frank Tripucka. Smith had 27 points at half time, while Tripucka had 26.
