Comments:
The game was supposed to be a big matchup of Syracuse's Bill Smith versus American's highly touted Kermit Washington. While both centers played well, Smith clearly outplayed Washington, with Smith grabbing a career high 30 rebounds, along with scoring 28.
Greg Kohls was the hot shooter for the night leading both teams with 34 points. The game was tied at 30, when Syracuse would make a run to close out the first half and lead 50-37. The game was never close again, as the Orangemen easily won. Tommy Green had an outstanding night directing the offense, and earned 10 assists for his effort.
