Comments:

Syracuse played Connecticut in the Orangemen's first ever NCAA tournament game. The Orangemen started out well for the first few minutes, before UConn took control of the game. The Huskies would lead at the half 37-35.

Syracuse UConn 1957 NCAAUConn would dominate the early portions of the second half, and led by 10 points with eight minutes to play. Things looked very bleak for Syracuse as Gary Clark was on the bench with four personal fouls. However, coach Marc Guley had the Orangemen switch to a full court press, and the pressure worked great. The Orangemen did a great job ballhawking and with their speed they easily beat the Huskies down the court. In a six minute stretch Syracuse outscored UConn 22-3, to retake the lead and put the game away. [1]
