Comments:

Bradley scored the first eighteen points of the game to lead 18-0, then 22-2, and led 40-35 at halftime. Syracuse would score the first eight points of the second half to lead 43-40; the game would remain tight and was tied at 55-55 before Bradley would go on a run to take a 63-56 lead with 5:53 to play. The Orangemen would make a quick run starting with two free throws by Ed Miller, and a basket by Stan Swanson. Kelly would score one free throw for Bradley; then Jack Kiley and Swanson would each score a basket to tie the game at 64-64 with 4:14 to play.

Ed Behnke would make a basket and put Bradley ahead 66-64, but Syracuse would score the next six points, including a three point play by Swanson. The Orangemen would never trail again. Bradley would make a run at the end of the game, and get the score back to 76-74. Syracuse ran the clock down to 10 seconds, when Jack Kiley called a timeout; unfortunately a technical resulted as the Orangemen had no timeouts left to call. Preece made the technical free throw, and Bradley inbounded the ball. Bradley's Squeaky Schlictmen took a desperate shot from the sideline as time expired, and the Orangemen won the National Collegiate Campus Basketball Tournament.
