Tony Hladik was a forward for Syracuse for three seasons. He attended Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and was a teammate of fellow Orangeman Dick Suprunowicz.
Hladik would start several games mid season his sophomore year. Hladik was primarily a defensive player; he would score a career high 10 points against Oklahoma State and again against Duquesne. Bob Savage, who was a strong scorer near the hoop, would replace him in the starting lineup in mid-February.
Hladik would see reduced playing time his junior year. His role would expand his senior year as he was a reserve for the forward and center positions.
He would coach physical education at Great Meadow Correctional Institute in the late 1950s.
Hladik passed away in November 2000.
