Comments:
Syracuse and Toledo met in the first round of the new National Collegiate Campus Championship Tournament. Favored Toledo lead 24-20 after eleven minutes into the game. However, powered by Ed Miller's 11 first half points and some stellar play by Tom Jockle, the Orangemen would take the lead and were ahead at halftime 37-31.
In the second half, the Orangemen played some strong defense and had some aggressive rebounding while Toledo fell cold from the floor. Toledo would shoot 18% in the second half, including missing eight layups; during one nine minute stretch Toledo had only one rebound.
