Debate had been for a few years which was the better squad, the Syracuse University or the local amateur squad Syracuse All-Stars. This was the first meeting between the two squads to settle it. The Orangemen led 14-3 at halftime, and would win the game 21-13. Sol Bloom would lead all scorers with 13 points.
