Bobby Twiford was on the Syracuse basketball team for three seasons. Twiford was a speedy player who excelled in coach Lew Andreas' quick pace offense.
Twiford was the top reserve his sophomore season, playing forward well in the fast pace lineup that Andreas preferred that season. He would lead the Orange in scoring in a win over Manhattan with his season high 10 points. Syracuse was losing all five starters from the team, and Lew Andreas was counting heavily on Twiford's experience in his junior season. Unfortunately, Twiford was ill and was ordered by the medical staff to have a year of rest.
Twiford would return his senior season, and would switch to the guard position. Twiford would have career highs of 11 points in a win over Clarkson and 12 points in a win over St. Lawrence in early games his senior season. He was counted upon as a valuable sparkplug for the offense off the bench.
Unfortunately, Twiford would have academic problems and would be dismissed from school after the winter break that season. He would join a local semi-pro team the Syracuse Reds, and later play for the Syracuse Shamrocks.
