Terry Quigley was a guard for Syracuse basketball for three seasons.
Quigley did not get much playing time his sophomore or junior seasons. He would play in most games his senior year, and shared starting time with Sandy Salz and Steve Dodge.
Quigley was one of the first white Syracuse students to room with a Black student when he roomed with football player Ernie Davis. Davis and Quigley would be close friends, and Quigly was a groomsman at Davis' wedding.[2]
Quigley would be a successful high school coach following graduation. He was Bishop Ludden's first basketball coach, and would coach the team from 1963 to 1973 with a 124-56 record. His Bishop Ludden team would finish with a #1 ranking in New York state for the 1968-1969 season. Quigley would coach at Bishop Grimes from 1978 to 1984, with an 80-37 record. He would leave Bishop Grimes to coach a Morrisville State College. [1]
Quigley passed away in 2020.
