Steve Berkenfield was a forward for the Syracuse Orangemen for three seasons.
Berkenfield was regular part of the reserve rotation his sophomore season. He would move into the starting lineup his junior season, when senior Tom Mossey moved to center. Berkenfield would have a solid season. He scored a career high 20 points in a win over Niagara towards the end of the year.
Berkenfield would be co-captain of the team his senior year with Pete Chudy. Though he was not usually a scoring threat, he would finish third in scoring.
