Dick Simons was a forward on the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons. He was described as a diminutive player. He also played second base for the Syracuse Orangemen baseball team, and lettered in 1921.

Simons played in only two games his first year on the varsity. He would play a bigger role his last season. When Syracuse team captain Pete Conlin was injured, Larry Weltman moved over to take his place at center, and Simons moved into the starting lineup replacing Weltman.

Simons did not return to school in the fall of 1921.
