Dave Brodsky Syracuse Orangemen BasketballBrodsky played high school basketball at Central High with Vic Hanson. In 1921 and 1922, when Brodsky was the captain of the team, the two of them would win back-to-back New York State High School basketball championships.

Brodsky would be the captain of the Syracuse freshman basketball team in 1922-1923. He would play two non-distinguished years on the varsity as a reserve guard.

In 1926 Brodsky became the basketball coach at this alma mater Central High. He would guide them to eleven league titles and two state championships. He would coach future Syracuse players Ken Beagle, Ron Phillips, and George Armstrong. Brodsky is recognized as 'the father of Syracuse High School basketball', for his efforts in getting Central to create a team when he was a player back in 1920, and later for his dominance and influence as a coach from 1926 to 1940.[1] &[2]

In 1934 he would start Brodsky Insurance, which he would run until 1983.

Brodsky passed away in 1984. He was inducted into the Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
