Comments:
Syracuse and Villanova both entered the game 11-0, with Syracuse ranked #2 in the country and Villanova #8. Villanova shot well from the perimeter early, and jumped out to a 25-7 lead over the Orange. The Orange recomposed themselves, and went on a 20-0 run, to regain the lead 27-25. Syracuse would lead at the half 38-34.
The second half saw Syracuse maintaining a 7-10 point lead for most of the half. Villanova got to within five points with just over minutes to go, but Syracuse put in a defensive stop, and made the majority of their free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Tyler Ennis played flawless at the point, and Trevor Cooney, once he got open, shot extremely well from the perimeter. Baye Keita provided a spark off the bench with some hustle, and two great second half passes.
Tyler Ennis' older brother Dylan Ennis was a key player for Villanova off the bench.
