Comments:

Syracuse would play a close game with the LaSalle Explorers in the first round of the 1975 NCAA tournament. Syracuse led at halftime 36-33.

Syracuse had an early 8 point lead in the second half, but the Explorers were able to battle back. La Salle's Gene Collier scored with 1:11 left in regulation that tied the game up at 71. Neither team would score, though the Explorers Joe Bryant had a chance at a game winning baseline jumper with 3 seconds left, but the shot was just short.

LaSalle's Charlie Wise hit a long jumper with 53 second left in overtime to tie the game up. Syracuse ran its "High Three" offensive set, which allowed Kevin King would score on a layup with 37 seconds remaining in overtime to get the lead. Jimmy Lee hit two free throws with 12 seconds left to clinch the win.

Rudy Hackett had a huge game for the Orangemen with 30 points and 12 rebounds, plus he made two clutch free throws in regulation to keep the game tied down the stretch.
