Danny Martin was a speedy guard for Syracuse basketball for two seasons. He was an outstanding defender.

Danny Martin Syracuse Orangemen BasketballMartin played on the freshman basketball team. He would miss the 1917-1918 season due to World War I.

Martin would rejoin the Syracuse basketball team in February of his sophomore season, and start the last twelve games. He would team with All-American John Barsha in the backcourt to form a formidable duo. The team would struggle to make free throws that season, and Martin was the designated free throw shooter for several games. Like many of the Orangemen, he would struggle from the free throw line including a 6-12 effort against the Great Lake Naval Station in late February. However, his defensive abilities helped keep the Orangemen competitive.

Martin would miss his junior season due to injury, and would not return to the team his senior season. Martin graduated from Syracuse in 1921 from the Syracuse School of Law. He would play a couple of seasons of professional basketball for Pittsfield and Syracuse.

Martin passed away in 1977.
