Taurean Thompson was a forward for Syracuse University basketball for one season.
Thompson showed early in his freshman year that he was a talented scorer displaying a nice mid-range jump shot. He would have a season high 22 points in only nineteen minutes of play in an easy win over Boston University. As gifted as he was offensively, he struggled defensively and that limited his playing time potential. However, DaJuan Coleman's knees were really bothering him, and the Orange were struggling on the court, so Jim Boeheim inserted Thompson as the starting center in the Boston College game. He would remain in the starting lineup for the remainder of the season, providing sparks on offense, and struggling to rebound and play defense.
Thompson would surprise the team on the first day of school in 2017 by announcing he was not returning to Syracuse. He stated that there were family medical issues and he transferred to Seton Hall.

Thompson would be a reserve for Seton Hall his sophomore year, averaging about 10 minutes a game.
Seton Hall would be found guilty of tampering with Thompson while he was still a student at Syracuse, enticing him to transfer. The Pirates would be penalized for the transgression including a two game suspension for coach Kevin Willard, a scholarship loss, and recruiting restrictions [1]. Thompson would play only one game for Seton Hall his junior season.
Thompson would transfer to Detroit Mercy for his final season. He would play only two minutes in two games for Detroit.
