Joe Rigan was a reserve on the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons. He was star on the Syracuse Orangemen football team, a starting tackle on offense and defense for three seasons and captain of the team his senior year.
Rigan would play in a handful of games his sophomore year on a very deep Syracuse team, and would play in one game his junior season. He would fail to score in any of the games.
Rigan would graduate from Syracuse in 1941. He would serve in World War II as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps.
