The Syracuse Orangemen and St. Lawrence Saints met in the first season of Syracuse varsity basketball. The Saints were the third team the Orangemen would face.

The two schools met frequently from 1901 to 1947. Syracuse would win twelve straight from 1912 to 1927. In 1940, Paul Kartluke set a Syracuse single game scoring record with 27 points against the Saints. Less than 11 months later, he would tie that record, again against the Saints.

Syracuse won the last eight games of the series. The two teams have not played since 1947. St. Lawrence is now a Division III team.
