The Syracuse Orangemen and Rochester Yellowjackets first played in 1902 with the Orangemen winning 23-3. Syracuse would win 6 of the first 7 games before Rochester started to turn the series around. The Yellowjackets would win five straight games from 1909 to 1911.
The two teams would play at least once a year from 1915 to 1933, with the Orangemen having the upper hand throughout most of the series. The series started to slow down to a couple of games every few years, and the two schools last played in 1974. Syracuse won the last 12 games of the series.
Rochester is currently a Division III school.
Legendary Syracuse player Arthur Powell coached Rochester from 1910 to 1917. He would go 5-5 against his alma mater.
