The Syracuse Orange and Rhode Island Rams first met in 1956 with the Orangemen winning 106-82 behind Vinnie Cohen's 29 pts. The two teams would not meet again for 21 years.
In 1988 the Rams upset the Orangemen 97-94 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The two teams last played in 2007.
