The Syracuse Orangemen and Navy Midshipmen first met in 1939 with the Orangemen winning 42-35. The two teams did not meet again for 16 years.
The Orangemen won five straight games from 1956 to 1985. That streak was broken in the second round of the 1986 NCAA Tournament when the Midshipmen led by center David Robinson upset the Orangemen 97-85.
The two teams have not met since.
