The Syracuse Orangemen and Maryland Terrapins first met in 1972, in the NIT tournament. The Orange lost its first five games against the Terrapins, and have won the last four games. They are 1-1 versus one another in the NIT and also 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament.
Though the two teams have met nine times, Syracuse has had only two home games against the Terrapins. Four of the games have been on neutral sites, and three in Maryland. They played one game as ACC opponents, back in 2014. Maryland joined the Big 10 the following season.
