Evans played for the Syracuse basketball team his junior year at Syracuse. He was a reserve player.
Evans was the president of the Retail Shoe Salesman's Institute. He was involved in the publishing of the trade publications The Shoe Retailer, Illustrated Footwear-Fashion, and The Shoeman.
He would publish a book entitled The Class of 1904 Syracuse University: A History.
