Albert Ackley played two years for Syracuse basketball. He was an good all around athlete lettering in basketball in 1925, and also playing two seasons of football, competing in pole vaulting, cross country, and starring in golf.

Albert Ackley Syracuse Orangemen BasketballAckley served in the Army in World War I before coming to Syracuse. He was wounded in action in Germany.

Ackley was a starter and top reserve both seasons he played. Though he was in good academic standing his sophomore year, he lacked the extra study honor points required and was suspended from the second half of the season (after February 10th).

He would serve in the Army in World War II as a warrant officer. Ackley was a salesman for most of his life, working out of Oneida, NY and Oklahoma City, OK.

Ackley passed away in June of 1971. His brother Willard Ackley was an All American quarterback on the Syracuse football team, and also a member of the baseball team
