Tom Bednark was a reserve guard on the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons. He was also the ace pitcher on the Syracuse baseball team, earning two varsity letters for baseball.
Bednark would quit the basketball team towards the end of his junior season to focus on baseball. He would not return to either sport for his senior year.
Bednard would be a businessman in Denver following his time at Syracuse. He started a company called Colorado Sports Authority which ran Colorado Youth Basketball, Inc.
