Steve Keating was a walk-on guard for Syracuse basketball for two seasons. Keating would play one game his freshman year. That was against Lafayette, and he would make the only field goal he would attempt.
Keating was a walk-on again his sophomore year, but he would not play in any games.
He played high school basketball at Scranton Prep and lead his team to a 26-4 record and district championship.
Keating would have a professional career in defined benefit and asset management. His son Stephen was a walk-on forward for Syracuse for the 2022-23 season.
