Reggie Powell was a phenomenal leaper who played forward two seasons for Syracuse. Nicknamed 'Saturn 5' for his ability to jump, Powell was an extremely popular player with the fans. During his sophomore season against Buffalo State, Powell jumped from just inside the free throw line and did a reverse dunk, almost hitting his head on the rim in the Reggie Powell Syracuse Orangemenprocess.

Despite his athletic ability Powell was never able to put his whole game together. His freshman year, he barely played, failing to score any points. His sophomore season, on a team loaded with gifted forwards such as Marty Byrnes, Louis Orr, and Dale Shackleford, Powell struggled to get playing time.

After his sophomore season he announced he was transferring to Division III Pratt Institute to play basketball.
