Ramel 'Rock' Lloyd was a shooting guard at Syracuse for one season. Lloyd was a big guard, with a reputation for being tough. He was a Parade All American at Cardinal Hayes High School.

Lloyd played about ten minutes a game his freshman year at Syracuse. He averaged 4.6 points per game, even with limited playing time. Frustrated with being on the bench behind classmate Jason Hart, Lloyd would leave Syracuse after his freshman year.

Lloyd would transfer to Long Beach State and play for former Syracuse assistant coach Wayne Morgan. He immediately became a starter for the 49ers, and would score a career high 36 points his sophomore year against Kansas State on December 12, 1998.

Lloyd would be named 2nd Team All Big West his junior season, after averaging 14.6 ppg and 2.9 rebounds. He would top that his senior season, earning First Team All Big West honors leading the conference in scoring with 19.4 ppg. Lloyd would score 30+ points five times in his career at Long Beach State.
