Maury Youmans was a star right tackle and defensive end on the 1959 Syracuse National Champion football team. He was a key component in opening running lanes for Ernie Davis as the team ran to the title.
Youmans was a reserve center on the basketball team while at Syracuse for two seasons. He did not play his junior season due to an operation during September of 1957.
Youmans was a 9th round pick of the Chicago Bears in 1960. He would play three seasons with the Bears and two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He would severely hurt his knee in 1963, ending that season and hampering the rest of his career.
