Lou Stark was a reserve center and forward on the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons. Stark was a gifted athlete who lettered three times in football, and also played baseball at Syracuse.

Stark excelled in football, where he played halfback for three seasons. During his sophomore season, he scored a team leading six touchdowns and kicked an extra point. As a junior he scored four more touchdowns (and two extra points), and in his senior season he scored three more touchdowns (and one extra point). During that last season he earned AP All-East honorable mention honors.

Following graduation, Stark signed to play with the Boston Redskins of the NFL. Though part of the team for one season, he never played a game.
