JeCarl Riggins was a walk-on guard for Syracuse for two seasons. He played only limited minutes his sophomore season.
Riggins developed into a reliable player by his junior year and played in some meaningful minutes in some big games. He would see some playing time in the Alabama and Seton Hall games, and would play the last five minutes of the Notre Dame game, with three points, an assist and a rebound. Per coach Jim Boeheim: "JeCarl's really a pretty good player. A good defender, he gets the ball up the court and passes it well. He doesn't make many mistakes out there. He's a guy I wouldn't hesitate to put at the point".[1] He would end up playing 47 minutes in 12 games that year. Riggins would be a Big East Academic All-Star for the 1996-1997 season.
Riggins did not return to play his senior year. He would graduate from Syracuse's school of Management in 1998, and would graduate from Temple with a law degree. Riggins would become a lawyer in the New York City area.
