Herbert Plumb played basketball at Syracuse for one season. He played center for one game.

Plumb was a forestry student at Syracuse. He would transfer to the Michigan Forestry School after 1910. He would earn a Bachelor of Arts in 1912, and a Masters of Science in Forestry in 1914 from the University of Michigan.

He would work for the U.S. Forestry Service in the Pacific Northwest following graduation. He would become supervisor of the Snoqualmie National Forest from 1939 to 1950. Following his retirement from the Forestry Service, Plumb would work as a private forest consultant and managed Sparkeel Tree Farm in Olympia, Washington. [1]

Plumb was a noted photographer and a collection of his work is available in the University of Washington library.
