George Strba was a reserve forward for Syracuse basketball. Strba would play one game for the Orangemen; that would be in his sophomore season. He would fail to score.
Strba graduated from Syracuse in 1937 with a degree in Physical Education. He would work a few years as an administrator and guidance counselor at Syracuse University and then New York University.
Strba started coaching high school basketball in 1937, with his first job at Pavillon Central School (Batavia, NY). He then would coach at Limestone High School from 1940-1943, before moving to Poughkeepsie High School, where he would coach from 17 seasons (1944-1961). In 1961, Strba was named the head coach at Marist College. His would coach only one season with the team going 6-7.
