Gil Guerrero was a reserve guard at Syracuse for two seasons. Guerrero would play 20 games in his first two seasons. An injury would prevent him from playing his senior season.
Guerrero had a passion for golf and moved to Miami, Florida following college. He would become a golf professional in 1975.
In 1986 he became the head golf coach at Start High, a position he would hold for 20 years. In 1991 would become the Athletic Director and basketball coach there. In 1997 he was named the Ohio Coach of the Year. [1]
He was the head golf coach at Owens Community College from 2006 to 20212. In November 2010, Guerrero was inducted into the Toledo City Athletic League Hall of Fame. He became the head coach of Lourdes University Men's and Women's Golf Teams in 2014.
