Ernie Uthgenannt was a reserve guard for Syrause University basketball for one season. He would play in six games his sophomore year and score 2 points.
Uthgenannt would transfer to the University of Denver after his sophomore year. He would play for the Pioneers for two seasons, earning honorable mention on the All Skyline Conference team both his junior and senior seasons. He was also on the Pioneers tennis team for three years.

Uthganannt would graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1958, and a Masters in Mathematics in 1959. He would teach Civil Engineering at the University of Connecticut for over 35 years. [1]
