Edward Pond played basketball at Syracuse for one season. He would play forward for one game his junior season.
Pond would graduate from Syracuse with a bachelors and masters degree in Art. He would teach physical education at Phelps and Clayton, before moving on to Penn Yan. He would work with the Physical Education department of Penn Yan Schools for 22 years as a director, instructor and coach [1].
Over the years he coached football, basketball, baseball and track. Pond would coach the Penn Yan football team to a 46-39-7 record, and would have an overall high school football coaching record of 70-58-8. He coached the Penn Yan basketball team to a 44-81 record.
Pond served two years in the Air Force in World War II.
