Dayshawn Wright was a burly forward from the local area, who played one season as a reserve forward for Syracuse.

Wright played basketball at Syracuse's Fowler High School, before transferring to Oak Hill Academy his senior year. There he was a starter on the 2004 High School National Champion team.

As a freshman, Wright was primarily a reserve with limited playing time because of several upperclassmen entrenched ahead of him. He was suspended for the NCAA tournament game by the school for undisclosed reasons.

Wright was declared academically ineligible his sophomore season. After he was unable to get his grades back up to the standard, he withdrew from Syracuse and enrolled at NAIA Mountain State University in Beckley, West Virginia. However, he was unable to gain academic eligibility at Mountain State, and never played college basketball again.

Wright was the overall #1 pick in the 2006 CBA basketball draft by the Minot Skyrockets, where he played one season. In 2007 he joined the Syracuse Raging Bullz of the ABA.
