The Syracuse Orangemen and Wesleyan Cardinals first met in 1904. The Orangemen would win a close game 22-21
The next time the two teams played Syracuse would lead 22-16. The game was very physical, and the referees were calling a lot of fouls; the problem was the vast majority of those fouls were against Syracuse. Coach Eddie Dollard called timeout to protest the officiating, whereas the referee took it upon himself to declare a forfeit in favor of Wesleyan.
The two schools would not play again for five years. In 1913 they would play a home-and-home series, which the two teams split. Each team won easily on their home court. The two schools have not played since then.
Wesleyan is now a Division III school.
