The Syracuse Orangemen and neighboring school LeMoyne Dolphins first met in 1977. The Orange have won all six official games against LeMoyne
In November 2009 LeMoyne upset Syracuse 82-79 in an exhibition game at the Carrier Dome. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim had his team play man-to-man defense for the entire game, eschewing his trademark zone defense.
John Beilein coached at LeMoyne from 1983 to 1992; during that time LeMoyne and Syracuse never played each other. Beilein was 163-94 at LeMoyne.
Former Orangemen Mike Lee was head coach of LeMoyne from 1979 to 1982. He would coach against Syracuse once, losing 107-61.
The two schools have not met in an official game since 2008.
Syracuse player Joe Girard III's father Joe Girard Jr. played at LeMoyne from 1991-1994. He made 289 three point shots and hit 41.6% of his three point attempts, and like his son was an outstanding free throw shooter making 83.8% of his free throw attempts. Girard Jr. played against Syracuse in 1992 and scored 9 points, hitting 3 of 6 three point attempts. [1]
